Wow, lucky you. :) Felt like crap for at least a week. It took me 3 weeks to almost feel normal and the 5 months to have a lot of energy. I think the high energy comes with regular exercise. Myth!!

Yes, the more I read the forum the more I realize I'm very fortunate. But I was like this on all but one of my other 6 wls.. So, not sure why! I had one surgery that the shoulder pain was awful on the flight home. The only difference between all the surgeries is I took pain meds with the one and slacked at just getting up and going.

With exception to the nausea and vomiting after I woke up from anesthesia, which is the rule for me, I bounced back really quick. Very little pain. Energy levels were status quo.

Gassing the room is short term and will get better. Not!!! Over nine months out and still gassy all the time. Was fun at first until I realized I was no longer in middle school. The dog also refused to be my scapegoat any longer. lol.

I should design a small T-shirt for my dog that says " he did it."

It's a well know fact that boys are just born with more farts. I grew up with 4 older brothers. The air was toxic ALL the time.

This is a great thread! I've laughed pretty hard the last few minutes reading through it.

One I have not seen anyone post yet (may have missed it though)...

"The higher your starting BMI, the faster you will lose."

BUNK. Pure BUNK. Every body is different. I mean, I'm thrilled to be down 76lbs at just shy of three months post op... but where would I be if I had not had my five/six week stall?! I'll just keep following the program and be glad the trend is DOWN the scale. :)

That your stomach will eventually quit growling. I'm 20 months out, and tonight my stomach was making enough noise it was practically part of the conversation.

That if you bend over after eating' date=' you will throw up.

Everyone needs plastic surgery after WLS

A two week preop diet is a must to shrink the liver.

Everybody gets a catheter.

I was really hoping that the last one would be true :)

Here's one - that you will feel great in no time' date=' like a day or two, after having major surgery where they remove 85% of your stomach. Your energy level will through the roof!! Geeze....hate to admit it, but I was really hoping that one was true! Um, not so much.[/quote']

Sorry to disappoint but that was true for me.

And the newest Urban Legand is that in addition to cutting out 80-85% of our stomachs we've cut 18 years off our lives.

I must be an urban legend I don't even have head hunger but I'm only 18 days pos op and hoping it stays that way. Wired thing is that food smells so good now I can smell bacon a mile away. Only thing is I don't want any it's so freaky.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
