Had a CT scan done found a possible fatty liver, probably due to rapid weight loss . Ok has anyone else experienced this? Also was told I have a small umbilical hernia , also result off weight loss. I'm waiting to hear back from my surgeon . Any feed back from anyone would be great .

I do not have a fatty liver ( that I have been told) but after surgery I was having pain under my left rib into my left side back. I had a ct scan to look for something wrong with my new stomach (all clear) and was referred to my primary Dr. He called me today and said the ct showed a cyst on my kidney and referred me to a urologist. Does this surgery screw with the kidneys? I've read here of people asking about kidney stones after the sleeve.... does anyone know?

Fatty liver is caused by obesity, from my understanding. And, the solution to fatty liver is weight loss. I haven't read about it in a while, but I'm pretty sure that is basically correct. I had fatty liver before surgery, and was told the only way to correct it was major weight loss. After losing my excess weight the fatty liver is gone.

I also have some cyst on my kidneys. Found out I have stones as well. Hopefully on Wednesday I can find out exactly what is causing the stones and cyst. Good luck

Thanks for your input . I'm waiting to see a specialist. My regular dr said it was nothing to worry about. I'm getting a second opinion.

Obesity causes fatty liver. Weight loss doesn't. That's the solution! You probably had fatty liver before when you were overweight and it didn't get dx until now. Many obese people have fatty liver and may not even know it. It's actually becoming a common problem.

Fatty liver (aka NASH) is one of the qualifying co-morbidities. Only cure is weight loss. I was diagnosed prior to WLS, but surgeon re-confirmed & said it will resolve as I lose. Fatty liver can lead to cirrhosis.
