heavendly06 72 Posted April 18, 2013 I'm 8 days out from being sleeved and I'm extremely tired! I haven't returned to work so I have been able to get plenty of rest, yet I'm still weak! My Nurse Case Manager says that the way I'm feeling is normal. I'm able to complete tasks around the house with frequent breaks in between. My Iron is low, so that may also be a contributing factor. How long was it before you guys started to regain your energy?
Takingcontrol 467 Posted April 18, 2013 Yes, Iron plays a huge role in your energy level! It's normal, & WILL get better! Hang in there 1 heavendly06 reacted to this

Ellemental 1 Posted April 18, 2013 I'm 20 days out from surgery and keep forgetting I'm still healing. I went back to work two weeks after my surgery and have not made it a full week in the next week and a half. Any really long, really busy day exhausts me. Take it easy, everybody heals at their own pace. I'm 52 and I bet I'm more tired because of my age so I'm cutting myself a lot of slack!

How long was it before you guys started to regain your energy? To be perfectly honest it was a month before I was at full strength again. I felt my energy gradually beginning after the second week..... Hang in there it gets better! Best Wishes
Ellemental 1 Posted April 25, 2013 I just hit 34 days from my surgery and I still get tired faster than I did. At 52, I have to remember I probably won't regain full strength and vigor as fast as a 25 year old! You need to remember, just because you see healing in the outside, doesn't mean your full system has recovered. It will probably take me another couple of weeks before I stop wanting to go to bed at 8 and that's ok! Right now, it's the only thing I'm conscious of. The reduced appetite and inability to pig out keeps surprising me, I hardly think about it now. What amazing progress that feels like!
labellaskorpio 67 Posted April 25, 2013 5 weeks out today and I still get really tired after I've been moving around quite a bit. It's totally normal. Idk what my Iron is but I was really anemic before surgery so it's probably low now. But I do have more energy upon waking up. I just tire easily. Hang in there! Zen 29 Posted April 25, 2013 I'm 5 weeks out and went back to work this week. I really miss my afternoon naps. Last week I saw my Dr and found my Iron was low so I started iron pills and am feeling better. I find if I walk/exercise in the early afternoon/lunchtime it gives me more energy. heavendly06 72 Posted April 28, 2013 Thank all of you for your support. I have been feeling much better since I replaced my Flintstone Vitamin with Geritol!
cincykat 34 Posted April 28, 2013 I think it took me 8 weeks before I felt like myself again. I'm a little over 3 months now. Make sure you get all of your Fluid in and Protein. That did make a difference. I started drinking Gatorade. It really made a difference. I didn't like the Water father surgery.
