Tired, tired and even more tired!

Recommended Posts

I'm 8 days out from being sleeved and I'm extremely tired! I haven't returned to work so I have been able to get plenty of rest, yet I'm still weak! My Nurse Case Manager says that the way I'm feeling is normal. I'm able to complete tasks around the house with frequent breaks in between. My Iron is low, so that may also be a contributing factor. How long was it before you guys started to regain your energy?

Yes, Iron plays a huge role in your energy level! It's normal, & WILL get better! Hang in there

I'm 13 days post op and today is the first day I've felt normal. Still having pain though. I planned to go back to work this week, but needed more time.

This is going to be hard especially when I resume my work schedule. It will get better for us all!

I'm 20 days out from surgery and keep forgetting I'm still healing. I went back to work two weeks after my surgery and have not made it a full week in the next week and a half. Any really long, really busy day exhausts me. Take it easy, everybody heals at their own pace. I'm 52 and I bet I'm more tired because of my age so I'm cutting myself a lot of slack!

To be perfectly honest it was a month before I was at full strength again. I felt my energy gradually beginning after the second week..... Hang in there it gets better! Best Wishes

I just hit 34 days from my surgery and I still get tired faster than I did. At 52, I have to remember I probably won't regain full strength and vigor as fast as a 25 year old! You need to remember, just because you see healing in the outside, doesn't mean your full system has recovered. It will probably take me another couple of weeks before I stop wanting to go to bed at 8 and that's ok! Right now, it's the only thing I'm conscious of. The reduced appetite and inability to pig out keeps surprising me, I hardly think about it now. What amazing progress that feels like!

5 weeks out today and I still get really tired after I've been moving around quite a bit. It's totally normal. Idk what my Iron is but I was really anemic before surgery so it's probably low now. But I do have more energy upon waking up. I just tire easily. Hang in there!

I'm 5 weeks out and went back to work this week. I really miss my afternoon naps. Last week I saw my Dr and found my Iron was low so I started iron pills and am feeling better. I find if I walk/exercise in the early afternoon/lunchtime it gives me more energy.

I think it took me 8 weeks before I felt like myself again. I'm a little over 3 months now. Make sure you get all of your Fluid in and Protein. That did make a difference. I started drinking Gatorade. It really made a difference. I didn't like the Water father surgery.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
