low mein chineese food

Recommended Posts

I'm cleared to eat regular foods in moderation. My husband and son went to a Chinese buffet and yes it was a waste of money for me but I ate in moderation and that is what a successful sleeve surgery should do. I didn't eat lo mein or rice because I used to love them so much. I followed the guidelines and ate Proteins, veggies, carbs/fats if room. Don't be judging!!! This is a lifestyle change and not a diet. We've all been on diets and failed. I went to the buffet and felt fine afterward. I wouldn't recommend it as a rule but I felt it was a challenge I wanted to overcome. Eating foods is a trial by error. I just try to stay away from foods that I know I love because I can now.

Typically on the occasion my Husband wants Chinese food for dinner, I will order chicken and Chinese Veggie... Our Chinese Delivery place has a "Diet Menu" and thats where I order from... The chicken and veggies are steamed and have a light tasty sauce, kinda like a lighter mix between the brown sauce on Beef and Broccoli and The Chinese Garlic sauce... It is so good, plus I get about 3 meals out of the small container which is awesome for my wallet!!

It's been one year ago and after going out I am able only to eat my full in three days by eating small portions. For example, my hubby and I went out for lunch three days ago during which time we both ordered barbeque salads from Bono's. long story short it took me two days to finish the salad. I am so happy because God has given me a remedy to the madness !!!! I thank God for allowing all of us the opportunity to select the Bariatric procedures to help us have a better quality of Life, and I choose life in him.

I ordered fish yesterday and the portion will last me 5 meals. I don't even think I can eat it before it goes bad. I just want a healthy kids meal!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
