Clear liquid & protein powders...

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I'm a bit confused on this... can you help me out.

During the "Clear liquid Phase", my docs instructions say "a high quality Protein supplement such as Isopure or powders? utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury should be used...."

So does that mean that any Protein powder used with Water instead of milk is fine? I've ordered some Unjury...but I don't see how it's different than say Chike or GNC's 100% whey. Can I use one of the flavored Whey Protein Powders with water and it be okay during Clear liquids phase?

Thanks!

My doc said any Protein powder is okay during the 1st week an dlater. But he recommended that I stick with ones labelled "100% whey isolate" because that type of Protein is more completely absorbed by the body.

During the 2nd week, I started the EAS carb control shakes I can get at Walmart or Sam's Club.

My doctor said that I could use my whey Protein that I bought from GNC and mix it with Water. He said to try it (sip, sip, sip) and if it does not cause a problem it would be fine. I had my sleeve on 5/20/13 and started the shakes today. So far, so good. I'm sipping every 5 minutes and it's going down fine.

I've been experimenting with different Protein shakes.....I just tried:

Scoop of vanilla EAS whey Protein power

8 oz Silk light vanilla soy milk

A pinch of MIO orange/tangerine Water Enhancer

Put it in my Nutribullet

And OMG it's super duper YUMMY!! Like drinking a Dreamsicle milk shake!

That's what my NUT said the Unjury products are high Protein low carb low fat and low sugar and they taste good ... So I just hope I like it after surgery I got a few samples from my NUT & tried it & they are very good !!! So I pray I will be able to hold them in :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
