Hi all. New here. Just found out last week that my surgery is THIS Tuesday. Woke up nervous and anxious this morning.

Welcome! There are several of us with surgeries on Tuesday. I know I'm having some nerves, too, and it led to some odd dreams last night!

Holy cow...I thought I was the only one having weird dreams!!!!!!! I hate being nervous because I am usually all in control of my feelings. I have read other forums and don't want to "grieve" food because I seriously won't grieve the fat that comes off!!!!! I guess I will lose my go to "comfort". However, I think what I will miss more are the family meals. How awful that we southern women tend to measure our success by how well people eat from our table!!!!!!

Hi- i am scheduled for July 29 in Plano, Texas by Dr. Cribbins. I don't have a pre-op liquid diet - just low fat/no fat/no meat diet. I have been learning so much from reading the posts. Thanks for sharing!

July sleevers, there are ONLY TWO main things you need to take to the hospital with you...... Your cell phone......AND some CHAPSTICK!!!!! Omg!!! And you will reach for the Chapstick before you reach for your phone!!! My aunt had to bring me some, It felt like HEAVEN gliding across my lips.... Just a lil FYI

Today I'm having "what am I DOING??" feelings. I've been on the pre-op diet since Monday and OMG. I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever get to eat again. Tell me, after you recover from surgery do you feel normal and happy when you have a meal? I mean, it can't feel like "and then I was never able to eat again". Right? Oh, man, this diet...

I started on Monday as well. Yesterday I was really having one of those "I'll never eat or have a glass of wine again" moments. We are all so different on these forums but yet so much alike. My sleeve is scheduled for the 8th and right now, I just want it to get here so I can start to heal. Best of luck to you!!!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
