I'm sleeved! I checked in at 7:30am and they soon called me back to get prepped. The nurse too my med history' date=' the lab came and drew blood and pick up a urine sample (good thing I had any!). I changed into my gown and robe, and since I was on my period, I let the nurse know and she gave me some disposable hospital underwear to wear and a pad. I was bummed about this, until my mom reminded me that there was a silver lining- all my girly parts that I was worried about being exposed could now be covered by the underwear! My surgery was around 11:20- before that I got an anti-blood clot shot in my stomach, got my IV started, saw my anesthesiologist and my surgeon Dr. McMahon even popped by! When they wheeled me back, I kissed my husband goodbye and then I saw the surgery room- big, white, clean and except for Dr.McMahon I had an all female team! Girl power! They transferred me to the narrow surgery table with an inflatable thing under me which sort of reminded me of air hockey- they just slid me over with no effort! I was chatting with folks to keep from being too nervous and I think the anethesiologist wanted to shut me up so she said, "ok, here comes the oxygen!" The mask was put in my mouth, she had me breathe deeply a few times, and then she put the good stuff in my IV. At the same time, I noticed the oxygen had a weird chemical smell, and the next thing I know, I was waking up in recovery. My pain level was about a 5 out of 10 and I was a little nauseous, but they quickly got that under control with drugs. According to my surgeon, my surgery was textbook and I had the perfect anatomy for the sleeve and the staples lined up perfectly! Prayers answered! Before I knew it, I was in my room with my mom and my husband. After a few hours, I was walking - 4 laps around the hospital floor with my hobbit feet slippers and using the bathroom. I didn't need a catheter and didn't have a drain (my surgeon doesn't use them). I drank an ounce of Water which I tolerated great and then got a Protein Shake which I've been nursing ever since- burping gas up as I went. Doing great so far- thanks for all the prayers and well wishes! Here's me before surgery and after- walking the hospital floor. I hope everyone else's recovery was smooth!

How exciting! I'm sure you'll do great! If anybody else likes the slippers too, you can get them at Amazon.com or thinkgeek.com (awesome site for all things geek). My surgical team loved them! :) First full day home today and I've successfully drank 60oz of various flavored waters, and had about 37g of Protein in shakes...going to have protein added bariatric cream of Tomato Soup for dinner. Plus I've walked outside 2x already. Things are going smoothly so far! Tomorrow my mom is driving me to a large plant nursery where we can browse the plants and I can get some walking in- they have lots of trails. Looking forward to getting out of the house!

Hey just want to check in I have been on my pre op diet which consists of two Protein Shakes one for Breakfast one for lunch and meat and veggies for dinner since June 25th and I I was doing great until the holiday. I had some baked Beans and potato salad! I am back on track today of course but one thing I noticed after my carb encounter yesterday was that during my morning workout I felt crappy!! It was so hard to get through my workout i mean it felt like i was exercising for the first time ever! So far I've lost 9lbs but I am going to definitely watch what I eat from now on.

My pre op diet is liquid only... I didn't cheat yesterday but I did eat a few pieces of salmon Nigeri (spell?) no rice just the raw salmon so I think it'll be ok... High in protein!

I was sleeved July 1st! Had a hard time with nausea afterward something that always hits me when I am put under. They gave me lot's of meds but had a reaction to the pain meds as well. Was weaned off both once I did that I felt 100% better. No soreness with exception of one incision. Other than that I feel great. I started walking the hall way, got home the next day and still walking our neighborhood. On Clear Liquids for 1 week after surgery. I even went to the antique mall today and looked around. I am back at work on Monday. I feel overall great. I am excited to watch the lbs come off more and more........

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
