I am hopefully going to be late July, early August. It will depend on speed of (hopeful) approval and when they can fit me in I suppose. My best friend works for the surgeon and said that surgeries are usually scheduled two weeks out after approval.... Besides approval, my next big thing to work with is my school schedule. I am in nursing school and we go year round. I have a class with clinicals that ends July 23rd and I don't have another class that requires that kind of physical exertion until mid September. So I have about a 7 week window. We shall see....

I live in Grand Junction, Colorado. How much longer do you have in school? I graduate in December! I am SOOO ready. I am in a 27 month program, and it took me over four years to get my pre requisites, so I have basically been in school forever! My poor kid is 13, and was 6-7 when I went into school, so it is literally all he can remember of me ha ha. I plan to go on for my Masters, but I want to get my son thru high school first. School has definitely been one of my big stressors, and has assisted in a lot of my weight gain. I am ready to have a real job, not having to worry about homework and class times, clinical times, and tuition etc... Feel like putting the exercise effort in etc... Summer should be great for that. Hopefully by the time I hit the point where I am released for more than walking and light exercise, will be around the time I am finishing up school and I will have the time to put into the gym and getting myself back.

Hi debraeve :)

I also am so ready for this operation. I have done so much research on it and I just wish that July 2nd would come sooner... Like your mum I also had a Lap band which was not successful at all, I actually gained more weight with the lap band, (my fault though probably not the lap bands)..

I had my lap band out last friday. I was hoping to be able to be sleeved within the same operation however my surgeon refused to do that stating that it's much safer to wait for 12 weeks between surgeries. I'm really happy with my surgeon so am very content with his decision, he knows best..... even though I'm hanging to have it done.

I'm so excited by the prospect that by the end of the year I will be a lot slimmer. Next year is going to be a whole new year for me. I wan't to stop just existing and actually start living...

Who knows I may even be back at the beach in a pair of bathers by next summer.

Where are you getting your surgery done?

Chat soon, Lily :)

I totally agree, I told my hubby just the other day that he now needs to start saving up for my plastic surgery. I gave him a list of what I would like done.. I think that he nearly had a heart attack... mmmm, I also might have more luck getting it done if I win the lotto lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
