I am 5 days post op, and I'm on the liquid diet and I was just wondering if I'm the only person that sees a commercial about pizza or anything else and still wants to eat it, which I know I can't but stiill. it looks good and it makes me hungry

Yes! All the food commercials need to be banned. Especially the ones for Outback Steak House, any restaurant as featuring the newest dessert, and the endless tacos and enchiladas at On The Border.

even a double cheeseburger from McDonalds sounds pretty good.

Not that I can eat more than 4-5 bites

All food still looks good to me, whether I am hungry or not. I miss textures and flavors, but I have been able to resist. At this point, after doing without some of my favorites for so long, even healthy food tastes good.

That urge will never go away. But you will learn that eating the old way and junk we used to eat will hurt.

After being banded 3 1/2 yrs ago, every food that I would see would become my want for my first "real" meal. I'd go to Albertsons 2-3x a week to stock up on Tomato Soup and smell the fried chicken in the deli. Thats would be my first meal. Then, I'd drive by Olive Garden and smell the garlic. That would be my first meal. A commercial for Applebees, no THAT would be my first meal.

My first "real" meal was a Burger King cheeseburger and I regret it to this day. Put me on the slippery slope to unhealthy eating. While I lost over 100 lbs, I did so eating tacos, cheeseburgers, and pizza. I just ate very little of them.

Now that my band isn't working, I wish I had learned the art of healthy eating. Looking for a fresh start with the sleeve. This time I will do it right - no cheating!

But yes, I know what you mean about everything looking so good!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
