shadesofteal 10 Posted April 17, 2013 Will insurance typically deny surgery if weight is not lost during the pre-op diet?
magpie30 187 Posted April 17, 2013 I don't think so, but every insurance company is different. My surgery was approved before i started the pre-op things, like blood work and the final meetings. my pre-op diet consisted of 1 week of cutting way way back and eating only high Protein foods. I didn't lose a pound. Good luck, and keep us updated as to how things go!!
RebecaSparkles 247 Posted April 17, 2013 Some insurances make you lose a certain % of your body weight before you can even submit for approval. Like mine is 3% so 7 lbs for me. Some are 10%. I plan on crash dieting w/ a non official pre-op shakes diet for 2 weeks right before final weigh in. Just to be sure I make the cut. I talked to someone who was delayed a few months until she lost her %. Its more of a good faith effort to show your commited to change. allons-y
NewAshes 232 Posted April 17, 2013 Sometimes it's the doctors who ask you to do this if your liver is fat. But I have seen dates pushed cause they did not lose enough.
