So I was sleeved on 3/19. From the time I started my pre op diet to now I'm down 26lbs and it is noticeable. My family and very close friends know I had the surgery but my co-workers don't know. They are SO nosey and it's uncomfortable. I'm not ashamed of my surgery but I am a private person; especially in the workplace. How have you handled these nosey folks? I want to tell them to mind their *#%**!!!! business but I need my job!! Lol! ;)

I haven't been sleeved yet but I've only told my BFF who lives out of state & another friend out of state & one of my neighbors (the one who talks to no one), in case I need help with the kids, & of course my husband knows. That's IT tho! I will say (in case others find out I'm in the hospital) that I'm having hernia surgery & other than that, if anyone says anything about me losing weight, I'm just going to say I'm on a medically supervised diet. That's it. End of conversation. Done. Finished. (haha!!) Good luck to you!

that's a tough one. I almost didn't let my co-workers know, but on the friday before my monday surgery, I decided I would tell them that I was making a drastic decision for my health and for me ...... I worried about the web of lies I would find myself telling or eluding when the nosey co-workers started asking questions. I figured either way they will talk, and surprisingly they have been extremely supportive and ask lots of questions because others are interested in this option for weight loss. tough call on how to handle your privacy as they are going to see you 'magically' transform right before their very eyes . You can just tell them you've decided to make a lifestyle change and better your health......and leave it at that! LOL good luck -)

I also didn't tell anyone other than my boss, my mom and my husband. I told everyone at work I was having a "procedure" done and then would just change the subject every time one of the nosy ones would ask, "for what?" But the day before my surgery I decided to let people know, but started with, "This is an extremely personal decision that I've spent a long time researching so I am well aware of the risks involved" because I also didn't want to get stuck in a web of lies. Also, you tend to drop weight at a much faster rate than you can with just diet and exercise and I didn't want others to feel like failures when they couldn't achieve the same results.

At first I didn't tell anyone but my boss also. When I told her she volunteered that she had the gastric bypass a few years ago. I had only told a few people before surgery but when I returned to work I pretty much told whoever asked because I didn't want to hide in a corner at lunch time. All of my co workers were very supportive and still is. Having that support at work keeps me on my toes. They make sure I don't fall back and eat those sweet and sugary doughnuts!!! Glad they know, good luck!!

Same here. Actually a few of my coworkers know, and my family. I am in a RT program, and none of them know, but since I have lost 58 lbs since surgery, it's obvious. I told them I was limiting carbs and exercising. Maybe they suspect. I just don't think its anyone's business and I am choosy who I share it with.

My coworkers know since its a small department of nurses. A casual friend remarked today on the weight loss and asked, " I'm wrestling the beast" i told her and laughed. Then asked about her.

Remember that you are the same person before and after surgery, so the co workers should accept you ether way. so if you want to keep it privet then let them mind the own business

I agree with you. I don't do the web of lies thing either. I just have to work on my creative wording!! ;) Continued success!

I've started eating my lunch in my car to avoid the "that's all you're eating" comments. I've already had a few "what is that?" questions about my Protein Shakes. I do think most of my co-workers would be very supportive. Continued success to you!!

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
