Jazzy1 8 Posted April 16, 2013 I'm 4 weeks post op and have been re-admitted back into the hospital due to my Dr. finding 2 small blood clots on my lungs. I'm on day 6 now as I type this and was hoping to go home today. NOT!!! Dr. says maybe tomorrow. I'm just glad they were caught in time and thank God for getting me through this. The BCs are being aggressively treated and I'm just waiting on my blood to thin out. Still wondering how I got them as I was pretty active after my surgery. Now on to my 2nd issue. I am nauseous as hell. Found out that my pouch isn't emptying as fast as it should. WHAT IN THE SAM HILL IS GOING ON???? My surgery was in no way, shape, form or fashion as bad as this. In fact it was a piece of cake and seems like a blur. Plus my incisions have healed up nicely. I was only on pain meds the 2 days while in the hospital and its been smooth sailing up until 2 weeks ago when I started taking those awful Protein Shakes. OMG!! I don't ever want to see another drink that starts with PRO. I tried several different kinds and they all made me nauseous. As for these minor setbacks, I would still recommend the surgery and this wonderful hospital that I'm in. From this day forward, I just want to feel normal again and out of harms way. I'm not trying to scare any pre ops away or anybody for that matter. This is my story and I was wondering if there are others who share my story.

Yaya 81 Posted April 16, 2013 I'm glad you are being taken care of! How did your doctor catch the blood clots? What symptoms did you have?
Houston17 115 Posted April 16, 2013 So sorry to hear this. I know this sounds scary but you are getting great care! Did you get a respiratory plastic machine in the hospital to do breathing treatments. They told me it was to prevent pneumonia but never said anything about blood clots. I haven done mine today. Going to look for that little rascal now. Hope you feel better!

Jazzy1 8 Posted April 16, 2013 I'm glad you are being taken care of! How did your doctor catch the blood clots? What symptoms did you have? Hi Yaya. I went for my routine check up and explained my that it was extremely painful to breathe and that my back (on the right side) was hurting as well. I thought I had pulled something because it hurt to lay on that side as well. Even to the touch it was painful. From that conversation I had to have bloodwork done and a CAT scan of my chest which showed the BCs and was immediately admitted.

I guess I needed to be on them longer. I'll be on Coumadin for 3 to 4 months.
