Women's sizes - am I crazy?

1x of xl is the same. 2x is xx and 3x is xxx. Plus size start at 1x or xl.

I don't think that's right, at least at most clothing stores. I experimented at several stores with this. I tried on a shirt in 1X in the Women's dept and then went and tried on the exact same shirt in XL in the Misses dept, and there was a distinct size difference at all the stores I tried.
