I made it to ONEderland! I am 198 down 42 lbs in 9 weeks, but not without trouble and some regrets. I knew this was going to be hard but I had no idea how hard. Some days I wish I was just normal again. Every day is such a struggle to eat, everything makes m nauseas nothing even sounds good. It's more a chore to eat. I am having trouble getting fluids in on my days off work bc I'm not as active and just forget to drink. Where at work I remind myself constantly to drink. Could I be getting dehydrated? Is that why I am having such a hard time eating? Oh and did I mention I throw up almost every day! I need advice and encouragement some kinda bad!!! :( help

My word! It sounds like you are having a rough day! :(

I think we all had days where it seemed overwhelming and wanted to go back our "normal" ways. But our normal ways where very unhealthy and killing us...

As far as throwing up? Are you measuring your food? Eating nice and slow?

I never threw up but did have periods of nausea the first two months.

And if you think you might not drinking enough,

You're probably not.

Yes drinking is like a full time job, but a very important one.

Good luck and hang in there you are doing great.

Sorry to hear this. I can't be of much help because my surgery is coming up on May 6th and I haven't been in your shoes yet. Do you have a watch with a timer on it? If you set it you can schedule reminders to help you drink. Find something yummy; put fruit in your Water or drink Crystal Light instead. I know dehydration can make you feel gross so maybe that's it.

You should check with your doc about the throwing up part. Doesn't sound right.

Chin up

Make sure you are do not drink too close to the time you eat. Chew and eat slowly.. Do not drink again for 30 -45 mins.. I am 6 months post op and I have thrown up 3 times.. Twice from drinking too much Water too soon after eating and once i think from eating too fast..

The office said if I can't get enough Water down I will have to be put back in hospital on an Iv drip, they said my vomiting maybe a reaction to the somac or the vitiams so they will try me on something else today. I had the best day yest best one since surgery I'm 2 weeks out today! I only drank 4 cups of water! The office also told me to concentrate on the water over eating mixing it with squeezed lemon or orange so I have that a try went down much better and if I can drink a litre or close to then she thinks I will b ok and not to dehydrated. Hope ur ok. I know how u feel I have bad days every day until I had 1 good day yestursday! It's so hard I always think I wish I was normal again. Or if I could of just done a healthy diet but I know long term will b amazing

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
