bettyb71 38 Posted April 15, 2013 My husband and I are both going through this process. I have to lose about 100 lbs, he has to lose 230 or so. He is very nervous that this procedure will not work for him. Has anyone gone through this needing to lose that much? Please let me know some positive outcomes!! Groovinchikin 49 Posted April 15, 2013 Yes! I started out at 400lbs and to make it to goal I need to loose about 220lbs. On Wednesday I will be 4 months out and I am already down 100lbs and still going. My surgeon expects me to make it to goal within the year. This is an amazing procedure, and if you follow the guidelines your surgeon lays out for you, you WILL loose the weight. I wish you and your husband the best of luck on this journey! 2 ProudGrammy and TES reacted to this
JessicaAnn 564 Posted April 15, 2013 I have to lose about 160 so I'm looking forward to see other answers!
Richard Foor 655 Posted April 15, 2013 I started at 380 and need to loose about 240 to get to where they say I should be. I am 4 months out and now weight 279, so it is very doable for larger folks. Good Luck. 2 ProudGrammy and Yoli3925 reacted to this

bettyb71 38 Posted April 15, 2013 So were these weights the day of surgery, or the day you guys started the process for surgery?

Chris R 217 Posted April 15, 2013 I was 450 when I started the program, lost 60 lbs in 9 months pre-op, and have lost 38 more in 9 weeks post-op. I feel confident that I will be able to reach my goal of 150, a 300 lb total loss. The sleeve is a great tool, you just have to follow the directions! 3 abridgie, ToniRenae and celo reacted to this

Your almost in the category I was. How easy has the weight been coming off. I started out at about 510 had the lap band and lost over 100 but then gained when I had the band removed. The doctor said I had to wait about 6 weeks after band removal. It was hell. The wait just kept piling on. Do you exercise a lot? My knees are really bad and its very difficult. Could use some encouraging stories

The wait just kept piling on. Do you exercise a lot? My knees are really bad and its very difficult. Could use some encouraging stories My knees are shot, so I haven't been exercising at all so far. I hope to be able to as more pressure is removed from my knees as I lose more weight. I've been losing about 4 lbs a week on average. I just got over a 2-week stall - have dropped a pound a day on average this week. My total loss is now 102 lbs, 42 in the not-quite 10 weeks since surgery. I do get hungry for my meals, but it doesn't take much to satisfy that hunger. I eat about 1000 calories a day, shooting for 35% Protein, 35% carbs, and 30% fats and try to drink 8-10 cups of Water a day.
