I was sleeved on march 19. I am down 33lb so far but seem to be going a bit slower now. The first two weeks it flew off. Started at 296 and weigh 263 now. I've been doing great but for constant heart burn:( small price to pay. I just started couch to 5k today to be ready for the color run in November. I would like to reach my goal weight by then (160lb)Do you think that is a realistic goal?

I hate the Protein shakes!! Lol but i manage to do 3 4oz serving a day (a 12oz can of go lean) i can consume crazy amounts of Water with i was worried about at first bit my doc said its all good? I work and go to school so Im out of the house 16 hours a day mon-fri i bring 2 44oz jugs of water with me when i leave the house and still drink more than that most days! I am juicing and do Soup but am scared to do anything more. Im taking the bariatric Vitamins and tons of B12 so I feel pretty good and hopefully my weight loss will pick up more when i add in a 30 min run every morning?

I think your goal is pretty realistic! I commend you on running! That's great and I've heard pounds really start flying off with running! I cant wait til i can start running. I dont do Protein Drinks either. What about a Protein Bar, are you allowed yet? They make many different flavors and so many brands. I really like them and they have lots of Protein. In regards to your heartburn, talk to your dr. He can prescribe you something for that. You shouldn't have to deal with constant heartburn, it's no fun. I was on a ppi for the first 3 months to prevent that. :) Good luck, sounds like you are on the right track and doing great!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
