scheduled to have surgery may 16th, start my 2 week liquid diet may 2nd. mixture of excitement, nervousness going on. really worried about being cathed!

Ask your doc. are you sure you need a catheter? I didnt have to have one. even if you do need one, it can be placed when you are ready asleep. they are not that bad. Hang in there!

Kinda surprised you are going to get a catheter. The surgery is not even close to the parts that could get "nicked". Just wash well before surgery and you should be ok. It can be uncomfortable though. Good Luck

I understand why they would cath you. I have had several patients "go" while asleep. But you will be fine, request it to be inserted after your asleep.

I had my surgery on April 9th. I was give a Cather but I had a 5hr delay in my surgery time. They had already started giving me fluids by I'v so it was fine. They put it in while I was asleep so I didn't know. Don't worry it won't be so bad.
