Ask your doc. are you sure you need a catheter? I didnt have to have one. even if you do need one, it can be placed when you are ready asleep. they are not that bad. Hang in there! :)

Kinda surprised you are going to get a catheter. The surgery is not even close to the parts that could get "nicked". Just wash well before surgery and you should be ok. It can be uncomfortable though. Good Luck

I understand why they would cath you. I have had several patients "go" while asleep. But you will be fine, request it to be inserted after your asleep.

I had my surgery on April 9th. I was give a Cather but I had a 5hr delay in my surgery time. They had already started giving me fluids by I'v so it was fine. They put it in while I was asleep so I didn't know. Don't worry it won't be so bad.
