On the Utube videos Dr Alejandero Lopez posted videos last oct for Ready4Achange and currently for Alighterme. The hospital looks the same as well. My surgery is the 19th and after reading 2 poor experiences last week, I need more info. This makes me very nervous, I don't care for an upgrade due to overbooking nor do I care to be discharged without my drains taken out.

The doctor removes the drain after discharge at the hotel. This is how Dr. Lopez and Ortiz do it for EVERYONE. Dr. Lopez and Garcia where with Ready4Achange prior to this year, now Garcia is with Ready4achange and Lopez is with Aligherme. Hope this helps.

From what I understand from old posts r4ac came first and ALM was created by ex R4AC employees. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong please) Do a board search there's old posts about how the two are connected

from what I understood they leave the drain in longer because it decreases the risk of infection from all the Fluid around the stomach after surgery, the longer the drain stays in the lower the risk of infection... believe me I would have prefered the drain out sooner but I understand the logic. I actually think that Lopez and Ortiz leave the drain in the longest of the doc's down there just based on what I've heard... it is uncomfortable but to me was worth it.

Is Ready4Achange and Alighterme the same company?

No. A Lighter Me has been in business in TJ for over 10 years. Ready 4 A Chance was started by employees who used to work for A Lighter Me. Ready 4 a Change used to do most of their business out of Monterrey, but have branched out and are offering more locations now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
