Bsb1012 2 Posted April 14, 2013 I'm 7 weeks out and can pretty much eat what I want. I really want to put some chopped up pickles in my tuna. Do you think I have to peel off the skin first? Or should I avoid the pickles altogether? Or leave the skin on? The paper the doctor gave me told me to take off all peels, is that considered a peel? TES 858 Posted April 14, 2013 I was able to eat peels on veggies and fruits at 6 weeks and haven't had any issues so far. I just make sure that I chew very well. Based on your surgeon's guidelines, I would peel the pickle (just like peeling a cucumber).
Takingcontrol 467 Posted April 14, 2013 I use the sour dill relish in my tuna. But I have also eaten a couple slices of apples...peel & all!
TexasMiss 314 Posted April 14, 2013 I use the dill pickle relish too. I can eat anything now, but sometimes I will get a peeling in something that just won't chew up no matter how mushy I chew it. I spit the peel out jut to be safe.
Tink22-sleeve 528 Posted April 14, 2013 I can eat fruits and veggies with the peel on now. but at 7 weeks I was still taking off the peels. Enjoy the pickles!
OneWritersSoul 353 Posted April 14, 2013 I never peeled the skin off. Even early on, pickles were my go-to thing because the nausea was so overwhelmingly bad. I just mad certain to dice them up then chew them well.
lilbearzmom 584 Posted April 14, 2013 mmmm dill pickle relish...would be good in tuna or chicken salad...gotta get some of that- probably low carb too. -Kendra
melodymouse 196 Posted April 14, 2013 I would peel it just for the peace of mind. It's a little early to take the chance. I also use the "30 Chew Rule". If things aren't disintegrated in 30 chews, I spit it out. If my teeth can't break it down, there's no way my stomach will be able to. 1 Tink22-sleeve reacted to this

TexasMiss 314 Posted April 14, 2013 I actually buy the big gallon valssic for $4 at Walmart (whole dills) and get out my food processor. I make the dill relish, hamburger slices, nd them slice them like stackers. Saves a lot of money!
