Congrats on breaking the stall. Eliminating Quest bars was one key thing I did to get to my goal.

Are all the flat tires fixed now?

How did I miss the flaming threads? geesh ... I thought i read most everything!

The Protein bars are the devil to me too ! If it sounds to good to be true it usually is!

And the flaming threads? Trust me your not missing much! :P

I think we are all just trying to get to the same place and we've all made the same mistakes.

It doesn't really matter to me where you are in months, it's if you are willing to lay it all out and want to try and really "get it". we are all learning everyday.

On that note another day another bumpy ride,

But I know I need to keep traveling this road as best as I can so I can get to where I'm going.

And carpooling (or wagonpooling) is so much nicer :D

I posted a new thread today called "reset": 2012 was a $h!t show for me, I won't go into it. Suffice it to say that precisely one year ago I was the fittest I've ever been, even though I was still 15lbs shy of surgeon's goal. Then the $h!t storm broke and I stopped exercising, stopped tracking my food, stopped coming here and whammo, got weight last month and I had gained 25 lbs in one year. You know how I must be feeling about that, so I won't go into it, but I have pulled over to the side of the road, and this is me - calling my insurance to get someone to come out with a gallon of gas...

Does a reset work? As of this week I am back to 700 cals/30g carbs/65g protein/30 min cardio daily. Will this *shock* my system into a weight loss jump start? I really want to get to goal, my goal, not just surgeon's. I felt great at 165, I know I would feel outstanding at 140, and once I get this excess skin off with plastics, I can just imagine how strong I would feel.

Help!

Good for you for getting back to basics and trying to turn it back around. I absolutely believe that you can do this. You still have the sleeve and you know how to work it. What worries me sometimes is people who want to get sleeved and then forget about it. To live as if they don't have to give it a second thought and the sleeve will do the work. I just don't think most of us here are built that way. Everybody here says "I didn't get sleeved to be on a diet". What a load of crap. I don't think a diet is necessary, just vigilance and mindfulness about your health.

Anyway, sorry Globetrotter. I used your post to launch a mini rant, but it was in no way aimed at you. Best of luck to you on turning things around and getting to your goal. You can do it.

Bean, you are so spot on! And I personally can't agree with you more. My personal past addiction to food and the inability to self-regulate led me to the decision to be sleeved. I knew that taking that step meant I'd have to make lifetime sacrifices and lifestyle changes in order to be successful.

I've made mistakes and I'm going to make more. At this point I'm still learning from my own experiences and the experiences of others that have gone before me. And maybe I'm wrong, but to me this isn't being on a diet for the rest of my life. This is simply a lifestyle change and the absolute closest I've been to being "normal" in my entire life.

I posted this just now in "big fat people"

Yes butter I know it's your favorite title here:p

But I will put it here too.

I am getting off of this computer now and I'm going to try to make something of this day...

So... Yeah I did well yesterday.. Kinda anyway,

Until last night it was comfort eating all the way. I knew it as I was doing it and though I don't want to, I do it anyway.. The two sides of me fight and it seems the strong me is weak, how can someone not want to do something but at the same time have no self control over stopping it?

It was a Protein bar that got me, I wanted something sweet, I NEEDED something sweet!

Laura-Ven, get something sweet that is less calories than the Protein bar that you don't like well enough to go nuts on. For me, that's sugar free hot chocolate, Splenda sweetened greek yougurt with fruit and a crushed graham cracker on top, or hard candies. I can keep those in the house without pigging out on them and I like them well enough that the usually hit the spot for something sweet.

Laura, when you crave something sweet does Greek yogurt with some fresh berries not help with your craving? Though I can't eat hardly any, maybe a couple tablespoons of Fage 0% yogurt with two large strawberries diced up, or maybe some fresh pineapple, I find that it usually is enough to cure my craving but it gives me a little Protein boost as well.

I've only ever eaten a Nature's Valley Protein Bar, so I can't address that subject really. Most sweet things don't appeal to me for the most part.

As for comfort eating- oh yes. I reach for those stupid baby carrots and mindlessly crunch away as I cry! Though it's not a perfect solution, drinking hot tea during my "emotional hours" (evenings when I'm by myself) helps to keep me from reaching for the veggie tray.

The good news is- every day is a new day. We get to start all over every single morning. I find that comforting. :)

Oh and one other thing. sometimes it has to be something filling, which is why the greek yogurt is a good choice for me.

I'm glad to hear that getting out today helped, Laura! Such a good thing! :)

The Fage 0% that I was speaking of is a plain fat-free Greek yogurt. They sell it in a variety of sizes as well. I use mine for so many things that I always buy a large container.

Ok posted this at big fat people thought I'd put it here before I start cleaning fish tanks...

You know guys I have to admit our house seems to be full of **** lately it's like everyone here is going through a junk food stage.. I'm going to crack down on the crap. Hope they don't pull a mutiny on my ass

Everyone in my house is fit.. As a matter of fact my husband and son must consume large amount of food or they lose weight

But I've had to contend with bags of chips and all three of them eating them the last couple of weeks.

So today I got away from the house, I went to the fish store to buy saltwater and flirt with the young boys that work there! Hehe my favorite past time,

My husband always teases me by saying "do you want me to go too" knowing I'm going to say hell no!

I stopped at the store and bought some smarter snacking options ( plain Greek yogurt anyone)

I am going back to basics and I'm detoxing starting now.

I can not do "moderation" and "I'm not going to treat this like a diet"

That does not work for ME

I am a person with food issues, call it what you want but it made me fat, and I'm tired of not living life fully.

I completely get where you're coming from, Laura! I weigh my food, I measure it, I track it. There is no "eyeballing" or saying I can have a "handful" of something because that does NOT work for me. Food is not my friend. We are merely forced to coexist on this planet. :(

You've got this, Laura! After all that flirting you should be ready to kick some major a**! ;)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
