princesx01 3 Posted April 14, 2013 So I have my surgery date which is in 3 weeks, I wanted I know will the surgery interfere with the birth control shot...one of the reasons I'm having the surgery is to get pregnant but I don't want to right after surgery! Which one works better with the surgery the shot or pill?
BriDawn 79 Posted April 14, 2013 I'm not too sure but I do know that my doctor told me stop taking my birth control these last weeks leading up to surgery. I guess they higher your risk of blood clots. I'm not having sex right now so I just stopped taking them completely. I'd ask your doctor about it!
TES 858 Posted April 14, 2013 I would ask your surgeon and your ob/gyn about this--but I would also recommend using a back-up birth control method (such as a barrier method) for a while before and after surgery, b/c your surgery really does do crazy things to your hormones. I believe both from the shock to your system and also estrogen from the adipose tissue loss.
