Just not feeling it

Ok... Sooo It seems like you both are sort of like me then. I am a HUUUUUUGE Foodie. If it is gross, I wont eat it no matter what. I tired about 6 different Protein drinks and all were yucky, wretched, evil, versions of Protein. That costco & Sam's club one was waay to sweet and thickenly gross.

Take a trip into Vitamin Shoppe and buy a $1.99 sample packet of Syntrax nectar in Either chocolate truffle (so delicious), strawberry mousse, or vanilla Bean Torte. They have fruit flavors but I can ALWAYS taste the protein in them. I want to try the Double stuff cookie (Oreo & milk) flavor soon.

unjury chicken Soup and strawberry sorbet is REALLY good too and VERY smooth. Not one person could identify the protein taste in those. You can get samples of Unjury online but mine took about 2 weeks to arrive.

From what I have found, The Syntrax Nectar flavors and Unjury seem to be the best. My kids even drink this stuff! Plus they are so versatile that you can add them into real food! Unjury also has cheese sauce that others have said they loved.... I missed out on trying it. Both brands are not too expensive and go a very long way. I get my nectar from vitacost.com and Unjury from Unjury.com

for the thick Protein Shakes, I find them more palatable (thinner and less sweet) if I think them out with almond milk--I shake them in a shaker. I tried the Unjury cheese sauce and it was IMO inedible. Soooo salty and just gross and processed. I love their traditional Protein powders though! The Syntrax are really good too--totally agree with you about the chocolate truffle.

I made pudding with 2% milk and extra Protein. 2oz is about 7 G protein. It's pretty good too. You can add a little lite cool whip and its even better.

I went back thru my book and decided that I must be eating too slow and not eating enough. So, for lunch I had 2 oz cottage cheese in about 20 minutes, switched the laundry then had 2 oz of protein pudding. That makes a 14 G protein lunch. We'll see if this makes me feel a little better.

I have all the Nectar flavors, I ordered the sampler pack.....I still taste the protein although it is not as sweet as most of the other powders or premixes. I have a sample pck I ordered from Unjury but everything I have tried I can taste that protein...even the unflavored. I have not tried the chicken soup yet....cause the other tasted so bad to me. But I may give that a shot. I

The only thing that taste tolerable has been the Isopure alpine punch. I put that over ice. It just lets a coating on my tongue that is driving me crazy. But I have to get some protein in some how.

Went for my first post op follow up today. Surgeon felt like I will do better as I progress with my diet. But OMG, I heard the word exercise no less than 4 times before he went on his merry way. :)

Today I got a can of Campbell's chicken noodle soup, added more chicken broth to it strained out the noodles and bits of chicken. That was yummy but only 3 gms of protein. I made pudding with skim milk so I will try that when it sets. I think I am so ready to eat again.....I so miss my veggies!

Well, I guess I wont be trying that. Besides, I think I can do waay better with the real stuff and make my own sauce. I do agree with you on the Unjury powders though! :)

Ajeeprider, the first day back I swear I lived off of the chicken Soup from Unjury. For the strawberry sorbet I mixed it with yogurt and milk. I know a lady who mixes it with lemonade, but I thought that taste was a little gross.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
