rockdutchess82 26 Posted April 14, 2013 I hear age, genetics, workout, how much weight you have to lose, and time will tell if you will have loose skin.....I wanted to know since we are all in our 30's which is fairly young, what's your experience? Due for surgery in May and one of my concerns, more surgeries more money!
karenb4729 309 Posted April 14, 2013 Well, I can't lie, I have loose skin but as time goes by it's not as bad as it was. My problem areas are my arms, my butt (looks like an elephant) and my thighs. I workout 6 days a week and am working with a trainer 2x a week. I'm very close to my personal goal. My understanding is that you need to give your skin a year to catch up to the weight loss. I'm going to wait the year and work on gaining some muscle so that at least if I end up with the surgery I will have good muscle underneath it all. Oh, and I'm 55. 2 Ernestine and graylola reacted to this
mikamae80 14 Posted April 14, 2013 I am 33 years old. MY starting weight was 360 and I am 5'10''. I have lost about a hundred pounds in three months. I exercise often and try to get all my fluids. I still have some skin issues but I have noticed that they are in places that I previously had stretched my skin from weight gain. (example: under my arms) Honestly, it is not yet a serious "issue" for me and I have noticed that places that seem a bit "saggy" one day have improved and tightened up a bit in the weeks to follow. I do not think there is a clear cut answer to your very valid question. I question, I might add, that weighed heavy on my mind prior to my surgery. Everybody's experience is different because there are way too many factors involved. I truly hope that all goes well for you in your journey. Good luck. 3 Housegirlsosa, rockdutchess82 and graylola reacted to this

I plan to workout and try and build the muscles up again. Since this weight has come on in the last 10-12 years (menopause uggg) I am hoping it wont be bad. karenb4729 309 Posted April 14, 2013 Ernestine, same thing for me, my weight really came on during menopause but I went through it at age 32 due to cancer treatment. Its funny though, I feel so much more energetic than I did at 40 and I'm so glad that I went through this, saggy skin and all!

jgirl75 156 Posted April 14, 2013 I have loose skin. I will probably have surgery to fix some areas when I reach my goal. I have also been a fairly slow loser...my average is about ten pounds a month. I also workout 3 or 4 days a week. I personally think its something that can't be avoided. 12345 80 Posted April 14, 2013 I lost over a 100 pounds when I was in my 30's and had no loose skin afterward at all. I regained all the weight back (*** ***). Now, in my 40's, I've had the sleeve surgery and have lost over 100 pounds again. This time around....sagginess big time! So, for me, with age came less "re-bounding" or tightening. But I'm o.k. with it....better saggy than full of fat !!!

nadoue 158 Posted April 15, 2013 You can either use a towel or buy a special brush and before bath use it to rid of dead skin

Macy6 356 Posted April 16, 2013 I have not had the surgery, but I have a friend who has lost 120# and she said that for the most part her skin is fine, that her arms are a little flabby and she stays away from tank tops for that reason, and her stomach, but she said nothing that isn't tolerable. You know I personally have no plans of flashing my stomach, regardless of my size, I have never been a tummy show-er. I am a big tank top person, but I don't have "bad" arms right now at my size, so I am hoping that as I loose they won't be too bad. Only time will tell! 2 ChavaBling and rockdutchess82 reacted to this
