Does surgery really make you feel full?

Recommended Posts

I went from being hungry All the Time pre-surgery to having to remind myself to eat post-surgery. My hunger started to reappear at about my 1 year anniversary but is just what I call normal reminders to eat. As long as I stay on my meal program I don't have food cravings. I definitely feel full. I have deliberately kept my stomach on the small side. 14 months out and a cup of food makes me feel uncomfortable. I just make my food choices count. At this point, I only write down foods that are new but I still measure/weigh everything! I've lost 104% of my excess weight! = ) I have to admit, I am totally shocked at what people are posting they are eating 3 weeks - 4 months out! Don't forget to read labels. Stay away from foods that are higher in fat, sugar and sodium. WLS is only a TEMPORARY tool. Make the most of it before your body realizes the trick you've played on it. Support groups are full of people who are sorry they didn't take it more seriously. I owe a lot of my success to them!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
