sparker 11 Posted April 13, 2013 I'm considering having sleeve surgery. I am supported in this by family, friends and my doctor. I don't fear dying but I do worry about complications. While every person is different and every surgery has risks - I'd just like some feedback about whether complications are a sure thing or if they are rare? Help please? hopesowell 2 Posted April 14, 2013 Complications are definitely the exception. I developed a leak after my sleeve surgery, and only 1 percent of people have this happen.
lilbearzmom 584 Posted April 14, 2013 Definitely the exception. Not common at all but certainly worth considering. -Kendra
SerendipityHappens 1,594 Posted April 14, 2013 Stick around the forums and follow those who have surgery and then report back on their experience.. you will see the majority are complication free... HOWEVER, you should also visit the complications sub forum here because of course they do happen and when they do happen the results can be devastating. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
Newme48 104 Posted April 14, 2013 Great advice here! I agree. I also work in an operating room and after helping people have the sleeve done I knew I was ready and I can honestly tell you exception. There are risks with every surgery. Do your research and when you meet your surgeon always go in with questions and take notes. Make the nutritionist your best friend and ALWAYS follow both the surgeon's and the Nuts advice and instructions. They want you to succeed! Good luck to you!
