I had my surgery on April 8th. I can drink a Protein Drink 11oz in about 10 minutes with no problems. I just had a little piece of pizza and cheese to see what would happen and I ate it no problem. Is this good or bad? I never feel full with anything.

Try eating slower? You could also talk to your nut see if they have any ideas.

You just had surgery your stomach is still numb and is swollen. so at this point you most likely will feel nothing.

Please measure your intake and don't eat anything you are not supposed to because you do not have full sensation back to "know" if you are "full" or not

Great advice from Laura. Don't sabotage your sleeve with the wrong foods and textures too soon. Good luck and congrats on your new "tool"!!

Just take care and you will be fine :)

It takes time to heal and feel the restriction :)

I'm really nervous about this too. I'm about 1 month out and I'm able to consume all sorts of things, albeit in much much smaller portions before I feel the "burn". I have been taking Laura's recommendation...measuring out 1/4-1/2 c portions, but that's not a "meal" is it? I'm not sure how to get the amount of Protein in otherwise and I'm having a hard time with the shakes since I've never had a sweet tooth. 3 meals and 2 Snacks is what I'm shooting for each day but eating much more than purée. Have I messed everything up for myself? I'm still working on the hardest thing ever... Eating slow and chewing completely.

What kinds of purées are you eating?

Since you are eating so little in the beginning you need to make sure they are Protein heavy (no mashed potatoes and such)

If you eat slider foods you will not feel full :(

I've been eating the retried Beans, been having chunkier Soups like chili which I chew a lot. Have small pieces of grilled or baked chicken (1/3 of a thin cutlet) which I cut up and grind with my fork with veggies. Nonfat Greek yogurt with fruit mixed in since I can't do raw fruit well. Egg whites with cheese and baked white fish that flakes. I've had 1/4 of a crab cake though when going out with the FAM but stay away from breads and Desserts. Hummus (2 tablespoons) is another staple and lite baby bel cheeses...sound about right? Haven't really had pastas, rices or potatoes unless the are mixed with something and that's pretty much only when eating out (1-2x/week). Drink glass of skim milk every morning and then again at night

You sound really good!

Just make sure you are recording your Protein intake.. I know the shakes are yucky but if your not meeting at least 60 grams of Protein a day you should supplement.

You know that when you are on purée technically

You need to be puréeing your foods :)

Example turkey meatloaf with thinned out gravy.

Soups never made me full only protein dense food like chicken and turkey.

You could just mix unflavored Protein Powder into your regular meals to boost Protein if needed, or mix it in broth for a snack. Then you can get the protein without that sweet element.

I'm so happy hear im not the only one, I also had my surgery 4/8 and today I feel like im starving. I haven't tried to eat anything other than Protein Shakes, broth and Water. I don't like sugar free Jello and yogurt that are my list of foods. I can hear my stomach growl and so can everyone around me:(

I was sleeved on the 8th too. I felt no restriction and hungry all week. I started my pureed diet today. Had about 4 tablespoons of beef stew. I ate slow. It filled me up. That was at noon. It's now 2:30 where I am at and I still feel full. I can only drink about 2 -3oz Protein Drink. I would talk to your surgeon or nutritionist.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
