My poor experience with A Lighter Me

Recommended Posts

That is great news Leslie01. My experience has been a good one thus far with Janese. I have yet to meet Abraham but am looking forward to meeting him. Hopefully mine and everyone else's experience will be a great one. Things happen good and bad and cannot be good all the time. This is why we have these forums. We can tell our story. Good luck with a fast recovery and hope you have a successful weight loss and a happy beginning to a new life. Thanks for your post. This company and Janese needs people to tell about their good experiences. You made a positive impression on me. I am sure on others as well.

I had an exceptional experience with A Lighter Me, Janese, Dr. Lopez, Abraham and Eduardo. I am still in contact with Janese 8 months after surgery. In fact I have recently contacted her for plastics. I don't think anyone should decide on one persons opinion. This person may simply be making a mountain out of a molehill.

Devil's advocate. Your exceptional experience would be like calling the The Bunny Hill ski slope, a Black Diamond ski slope.

Or the kiddie caterpillar roller coaster ride at the fair, the Top Thrill Dragster @ Cedar Pointe. Just sayin'.

So yesterday I wrote that I was happy with my decision. Today...not so much. I am at the Marriott where I've been since yesterday morning. Like everyone else who's had the surgery' date=' I left Mi Doctor Hospital with a drainage tube. The staff at the hospital did not change the dressing, so I awoke from a nap yesterday to find that I had bled through the bandages and soiled my clothes, the sheets, the comforter, and a couple of the pillows. I immediately contacted the driver, Abraham, who told me this was normal (I highly doubt it) and that someone would be there later to remove the drain. He also told me to change the dressing myself. I attempted to do that with the thin gauze they had given me, but I promptly bled right through that within the hour. I spent the rest of the evening with a hand towel pressed against the wound. By this morning, that too was soaked.

When I awoke this morning, I promptly called both Abraham and Janese Pitcher, the Patient Coordinator. Abraham promised to be in touch with someone and call me back within 15 minutes. After an hour had passed, I called him back and got the same story. In the interim, I placed two telephone calls to Janese on both her mobile and work telephones but I never heard back from her. As of this writing (12:22pm) no one from A Lighter Me has followed up with instructions, questions, concerns, or anything about the issue. I am both shocked and appalled at this, considering that prior to the surgery (I.e, before I paid the balance), I could get ahold of Janese at the drop of a dime.

Rather than take a taxi back to the hospital (which is what I was planning to do, I took a taxi (with some new friends who were also here to be sleeved) to Walmart and got some new gauze, bandages, and Mexican neosporin. Who knows when this drain will be taken out? I just want it to be clean and sanitary while it's in.

If there is a silver lining to this story, my new friends and I stopped at Yogurt Bling (think Pinkberry) after we left Walmart. I got the tiniest bit of frozen yogurt, which I was unable to finish. So this sleeve thing is actually working!![/quote']

Thinking of you... Give an update when you make it home so we know your good?

I would love to know how you know she was on a plane at the same exact time.. Especially after the coordinator told her something different...lol all lies

P.S gettinsleeved, you will still have a lot of patients even though one patient voiced negativity. What you should do is learn from your mistake and be better next time around not pretend that you're a patient that had a great experience. Shame on you!!!

Seriously people, my lord, because I had a good experiance and back up the people who bent over backward for my care and safety does NOT MEAN I am a coordinator, wow. God forbid someone actually have a good experiance. I am a nurse from Birmingham Alabama, and I already explained how I knew that... I was there to!!! geez you seriously need some reading glasses. And if one more person acuses me of being a flippin coordinator I will flip the freak out, ya'll need to get a life. yeah, now I'm pissed, I said my peace yesterday but some Bi%$*es on here just don't know when to stop. grow up. I had surgery 6 freaking days ago, I DON'T NEED your bull.

If you are under stress from your surgery and don't need the BS you're getting, there is an off button.

This surprises me. I am here now and the experience with Janese and Abraham has been nothing short of perfect. In fact my drain was taken out after my shower today by Jessica the nurse. She then gave me gauze to change today once arrived at the Marriott. Did you not get your package to take??? All gauze and tape in there. Further dr Ortiz just left my room. He came to the hotel!!!! He was checking on all his patients to day. I would recommend lighter me. I have heard horror stories from OCC and meet 5 people with their drains still in today. They go back tmr to get them out! Of course each person has a different story. Count on me to giving a glowing reference. Far exceeded my thoughts.

so you must be a coordinator as well huh? Glad to hear you are doing good, I just got back!

Lol some one woke up on the wrong side of her (coordinators) bed this morning! :P

But seriously, we all have our own experiences.

We all know how you feel, why does it bother you so about this woman's less than great experience?

Things happen! good things, bad things everyday.

And your ranting here is not going to change what happened to her.

And it is to the point that I think it's not helping this company either if that was your intent.

Sorry, you are going through a hard time Gettinsleeved. So happy to hear that you had a good experience. This company A Lighter Me must be doing a great job. From my understanding they have been in business for 10 years. I feel bad for this lady. There must have been an over sight there. Sometimes things happen. It sounds like she is now happy with her care and is ready to move on.

I am sure that these people mean well. It's just a scary journey for us all to go through with a good ending.

I hope your recovery is fast with no complications. Keep all of us posted and show lots of pictures throughout your journey. This helps us people who have not yet been sleeved have something to look forward too.

Thankyou so much, I am aware things happen, I only wanted to shed some light on the issue as I was there too... I don't think I personally met Dawndenise but I was there at the same time and had exceptional care, I posted my experiance for you and any others who would like to see. Dawndenise is an exception to the rule from what I have read/ researched and personally experianced and getting that point across was my only intention. Thankyou for being so kind. :) And I will be sure to post pic's as soon as I start showing a significant loss, can't wait!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
