Depession

Recommended Posts

I thought I was ready to have this procedure. I had no idea what it could do to me emotionally. I had my banding done on Nov. 9th and am now in a serious depression. I woke up one day and realized that without eating constantly I don't know who I am or what I am doing. I have been started on anti-depressants and am talking about my feelings to everyone. I am having trouble eating anything at all. I have trouble getting out of bed. My whole day centered around food. I did not realize what an addiction I have. I pray this will pass so I can get healthy. People should not think of this as a quick fix. It is a serious life change.

You make a great point, it is a decision that affects our lives. Good and bad.

It sounds like you are dealing with it though. The anti-depressents, and talking to people. Do you have a professional counseler you can talk to as well?

i know exactly what you mean...i didn't know what to do with myself...so i did a really bad thing and started smoking... I keep telling myself its temporary a bad habit I have taken up to replace food but I have been smoking for a year now and don't know if I am going to ever be strong enough/well enough to stop...

No question about it--finding ways to fill the time we used to fill with food can be a challenge. Particularly for people who don't work or who have no families, food could easily have been a main focus of their day and now there's a void. It's crucial that we find ways to occupy ourselves that don't involve food. That's why places like LBT exist and why they can be such a help!
