Anyone w/ a BMI under 40 and self pay?

Great advice on the supplemental insurance plan, IggyChic. Also, if someone really wants surgery, maybe it would be better to sign up for insurance such as Kaiser that offers VSG as a non-elective procedure and self-pay insurance premiums for a while so that if any complications were to arise, they would be covered. I think you bring up some great points.

My BMI is 34 but I have several weight related issues including 2 knee replacements. My insurance won't pay for a sleeve no matter what the BMI, they flat don't pay for it. So I am self pay , but I'm going to Mexico. I can't see paying so much more out of pocket when I feel perfectly comfortable with Mexico, but that is a personal decision.

I was self pay and took a trip to Las Vegas. 9,400 with dr Umbach. I have to say great experience from start to finish. Surgery was yesterday and I'm off pain pills and hopping around the hotel room. The whole staff at blossom bariatrics was wonderful!
