Hello Everyone!

I am new to this site and would like to introduce myself. My name is Karmen and I have struggled with my weight for too long. Growing up Carbs were a must in our diet, now I am struggling to change that.

I finally have an insurance that covers WLS and I'm so grateful and happy that I will be able to change my life for the better with the help of this surgery.

My first appointment with the surgeon was on 02/20 and got a list of things I needed to do by 04/02

  • Bloodwork
  • Psychological evaluation
  • Nutrirional evaluation / counseling
  • Loose 5-7 pounds

I did all of them except lose the weight and that's were I am having a hard time. I gained 2 more pounds! So now I am trying so hard to lose the weight and would really appreciate your suggestions, so far I have cut out carbs, sugars, driking tons of Water.< /span>

My next appointment is in early May, I hope I am able to lose at least 5 pounds by then.

Thank you for reading my post.

The best way to drop some lbs fast is to do a liquid diet. It's hard and sucks, but it will get you down 5-10lbs pretty fast. Also make sure you are getting some form of exercise. I would save the liquid diet for a last resort, as after surgery you will be getting more than you fill of that! Good luck and Welcome!

welcome to the neighborhood!!! :)

'we're" having a special for NEWBIES this month!!!

you can drink all the Water and Protein drinks allllll month long

doing a liquid diet will help jump start your weight loss :)

but.........you will have to continue on Clear liquids, and then full liquids after surgery for a bit too!!

put your mind to it - keep drinking ALL day - PO, you need to drink 64 oz a day

start your moderation eating now - veryyyy little food caloric intake

i have confidence in you :)

i know you can do this!!!! :)

you will need all your positive strengths to proceed with the sleeve

you have to get into the "mood"/mindset for following rules, eating and drinking to lose weight

might as well start now preparing for WLS :)

good luck

A year and 2 months ago I decided to stop drinking carbonated beverages and stopped using sugar. I was addicted to sweet tea! Especially at that evil Mickey d's! I switched to crystal light raspberry green tea and that satisfied my longing for sweet tea. I also use trivia or stevia in the raw. That change ALONE caused me to drop 30lbs. I am not kidding. Get the my fitness pal app and log your food intake so you can keep better track. It really helped me and it is so easy now that I have been on it for a while it is like second nature to me. Good luck to you!

Hello every1 my name is Marisa and I just found this app from a lady on utube. I had my surgery on April 9th (6 days post op) and I've been trying to find others that can give me insight as to my transition over the next day, weeks, mths, and years. I look forward to tips and suggestions from you all.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
