magpie30 187 Posted April 18, 2013 I received discouraging news- I have Unitedhealthcare and it seems they will not give a precert- I qualify but have to go thru 6 months monitoring which I have started. I received a letter saying I was approved - but there was no guarantee of payment --- confusing. I have BCBS and had to do 6 months of medically supervised dieting. basically seeing the nut for 6 months before they would even consider approving.

SAI2013 7 Posted April 19, 2013 Hey All! I think Minnesota's planning on skipping spring all together and go straight to summer. Miznunu, Dr. Leslie from the Univ. of Mn Physicians (UMP) will be my surgeon at the University of Minnesota, Fairview Hospital. He did a different surgery previously and I was very impressed. Thought, I'd stick with him. Magpie, congrats on rapids weightless. How are you feeling 6 weeks out?

He did a PHENOMENAL job and I would recommend him to anyone looking for a good surgeon. I'm in Southern MN. The first week has been surprisingly good. I absolutely dreaded the liquid diet, it was rough for the 48-hours pre-op and I thought there would be no way I'd survive the 7-10 days post-op but its SO DIFFERENT with a new stomach! I got in to see Dr. Leslie on Thursday last week and was approved by the dietitian for heavy liquids at that appt so I shaved a day off protocol there now I am eating pudding, yogurt, and strained cream Soups in addition to all the clears. Not bad but I still have a mental desire to 'take a bite' of food. In a few weeks that will come and for the meantime I saw a number on the scale today that I haven't seen in 2.5 years (that's one child ago) and can see the difference! Very rewarding. Good luck everyone on your amazing new journey to health! Start weight: 327 Surgery weight: 301 Current weight: 289 Days post-op: 9 1 SAI2013 reacted to this
