Houston17 115 Posted April 12, 2013 I had my surgery on Wednesday. Came home yesterday and surgeon said I could start my normal meds back. I took my 75 milligram Effexor and my body felt like it was on fire. Not sure if there are new nerves or something with our new stomach or what. Not sure if that makes sense or not. I have a call into my primary care doctor. Anyone else have trouble with anti depressants after surgery?
wcn1970 239 Posted April 12, 2013 I went back to my low dose of Prozak. Ask your physician... 1 Houston17 reacted to this
ISleevedIt 380 Posted April 12, 2013 Nope, I went back to my celexa with no problem. I've since cut the dose in half...maybe make sure you're sipping Protein Drink or something when you take your meds. A little bit of "food" coating your stomach is better than nothing. 2 wcn1970 and Houston17 reacted to this
Ms.AntiBand 2,984 Posted April 12, 2013 I take Effexor for Migraines and didn't have any trouble, but I didn't miss any doses. Did you? That could be the problem since you have to stop by going high dose to low and if you start again its supposed to be low dose to high.

Houston17 115 Posted April 12, 2013 I really didn't miss a dose. I took it the day of surgery and then yesterday. ( the day that I felt like I was on fire ). I haven't taken it yet today. Waiting to hear from the doctor's office. I really don't want to go through another day like I had yesterday. . Good to know the Effexor didn't bother you. Not sure what is going on with me. I'm having a lot of nauseous today until I took the pain medication. Now I feel fine. Just having a little trouble adjusting.
