Marbear 41 Posted April 12, 2013 Ok, i was sleeved 3/25. I lost a quick 15lbs once the Water retention went away, but not another pound have I lost since 4/1. I'm tracking everything, and getting 60-80+g Protein, 64+ oz water, and doing about 30 min-60 min of walking daily. Actually, it's hiking - lots of hills in my area so going to the trails and walking fast. It's moderate to high intensity (and HARD with such a low cal low carb diet!). daily calories 500-800 right now. Since I'm doing everything I know to do, and following what surgeon has instructed me to do, I am going to assume I'm stalled out after 1 week. It seems more typical for people to stall at 3 weeks from what I'm seeing on this board. Experiences? How long do stalls really last? Suggestions? Calories in calories out is such a lie lol. . johnlatte 1,232 Posted April 12, 2013 There is no specific timeframe for a stall. It really depends on your body and what you are feeding it. There is an adjustment period in which the body does everything possible to hold on to the energy that is has stored. It will burn glucose first before burning fat. One of the quickest ways to break a stall is to actually eat more kcals, say 10-15% more than you are consuming now. That gets the body back to burning energy instead of storing it. It can be frustrating and some people can stay stall for significant periods of time, but if you eat more Protein and calories and get all the Water in plus more, then you should see things moving. Marbear 41 Posted April 12, 2013 what would you recommend to boost the calories? carbs, even more Protein, or some fat?
Nicolanz 1,484 Posted April 12, 2013 I've gone through a 2 week stall and a month long stall and I'm only 5 months out! But I've lost 65 pounds! So I'm happy.
Marbear 41 Posted April 12, 2013 I called the dr. office and spoke with a nurse. she said in the first month it's really nothing to worry about. but of course I'm worried about it - the pants aren't fitting any better either! Congrats on your weight loss, that's really impressive!
Lain01 173 Posted April 12, 2013 I'm in a stall too so I know how frustrated you are. I'm at the point of feeling like this just isn't working for me. My surgery was 3/14. I was down 22 lbs by 3/31 but since then I've gained back 3 pounds. I'm taking in around 700 calories. I tried a couple days increasing it to 900 but that didn't break the stall. I'm getting in 65-75g Protein and at least 64oz liquid. I'm also walking 3.5 miles. Last night I had a huge meltdown. I don't know what's wrong with me. Marbear 41 Posted April 12, 2013 Yes...that's the level of frustration. I just have this sick feeling that I'm going to be the one person who doesn't actually lose any weight because of some other kind of underlying problem. I'm also on a huge does of thyroid meds and I am actually in the hyperthyroid range. Even pre-surgery i should have been losing fast based on my TSH- i work out alot and eat bark basically. It just makes no sense. I was just hoping for time frames because it would be easier to push through this if I had a general idea of how long my body would continue to defy math and physics. I hope you see more progress soon.
Shrinkingmom 218 Posted April 12, 2013 Listen to your Nut. This is not a stall... it is a natural thing that happens because all of a sudden our bodies think they are starving so they go in to panic mode and hold on to everything. y dont increase your calories at this point because that will set you up for this to happen again when you go back down. A true stall happens after a few months. so try remember to be patient and stick with your program. This usually only lasts about two weeks and remember you have rest of your life. Make sure you measure so you have something besides the scale to look at.
Ms.AntiBand 2,984 Posted April 12, 2013 I had a several week stall and then just a pound loss here and there. It just happens and I'm ok with it. I eat right and that's my main goal.. Losing weigh is just a perk to me
AmandaRaeLeo 2,146 Posted April 12, 2013 Stay off the scale for awhile. Remove it from your home if you must. Measure yourself. Focus on the NSV's. I'm avoiding my scale like the plague. If I don't see the stall, there is no stall! 3 KatInFL, Leleboo and Marbear reacted to this

If I don't see the stall' date=' there is no stall![/quote'] My scale ran out of batteries two weeks ago. I'm not planning on replacing them now, either. I used to weigh at least once a day and drove myself crazy. What a relief to not be having that pressure everyday! I will be weighing once a week on my sisters scale. Stalls be damned!! bringiton 68 Posted April 12, 2013 I wanted to mention in addition to everything else everyone already said, that having a daily BM also aids in the weight loss. You should be able to use the laxative powder you mix into drinks, but consult your own NUT of course. Sent from my iPhone using VST
