leeann71 539 Posted April 12, 2013 I have had heartburn ever since I have had this surgery. Im 4 1/2 months out now. Talk to your dr. and see if they can prescribe you a PPI for the acid. I take it everyday and it makes a big difference. Good luck hope you feel well soon.
MoAndrews 0 Posted April 12, 2013 I have the same issue which I also didn't have before surgery. I take chewable Pepcid to give me some relief. Can't wait until my Drs appt Monday. Hope this isn't a permanent issue!
DUBrookie03 142 Posted April 12, 2013 Same situation for me. Heartburn was a rare occurance prior to surgery. Now, if I don't take my prilosec immediately upon waking up I feel the acid start to rise up. I take prilosec twice a day and then pepcid if I have any breakthrough acid. I'm 3.5 months out from surgery so I'm hoping this goes away with time. I heard it's not good to take PPI's for very long....

Jennabelle 13 Posted April 12, 2013 I take a prescription PPI, never had an issue before. It's quite common because your stomach is so small now when you add food your stomach acid has no where to go but up lol. I'm under the impression this isn't a permanent problem but I'd talk to your doctor because if left untreated the damage can become quite serious
