How much Protein are you getting in a day? My NUT recommends 60 gms a day to prevent Hair loss and I am shooting for 100 a day to try and make sure mine doesn't. I have long hair and I don't want to feel like I have to chop it off if it gets super thin. I'm only about two and a half weeks out but so far I seem to be "shedding" less now than I was before surgery. From the things I have read it is more a protein issue than a Vitamin issue. I hope it gets better!!

I JUST did some googling about this, because it's one of my concerns... Here's a decent article about it explaining hair's growth cycle and how it's interrupted from bariatric surgery. LINK

Some articles mention that the anesthesia from the surgery causes more of your hair to go into a resting stage, and normally after the resting stage, it falls out.... And it normally falls out...guess, guess... 3 to 4 months after entering the resting stage.

Things you can do to try to help, and to get your hair to grow back hopefully sooner and to normal thickness: Eat your protein! ....make sure you are getting 60 to 80 grams a day. Take your Vitamins as you have, but also start taking some extra Biotin (can be found where the other normal Vitamins are).

I haven't seen it mentioned here yet, but I've also heard if you aren't getting in healthy fats, it will also cause Hair loss. (Example: Olive oil, real butter, fatty fish like salmon, etc...)

Here's also a great article with foods that provide those same nutrients we try to take in Multivitamin form... (also look at the options listed under each one..not just the bolded ones).
