Hairbrush Trick to Ease Indigestion?

Recommended Posts

Got this tip off of a Health Newsletter today...I wonder IF this would help us? I'm going to try it...it's Acupressure!

If you've overdone it at the buffet table, here's a trick to ease the discomfort: Take a wire hairbrush or a metal comb, and start brushing or combing the backs of your hands. Brush gently but firmly enough to feel some tingly pressure (though not so hard as to injure your skin, of course). After three or four minutes, you should notice relief from that sluggish feeling you get after eating a big, heavy meal.

Here is the big question. Why would you even WANT to overfill yourself??? :-)

Here is the big question. Why would you even WANT to overfill yourself??? :-)

When I am driving home after a long absence from my wife I don't intend to violate the speed laws. It seems my accelerator foot is taking orders from somewhere other than the good intentions part of my brain. I have to check the speedometer often or I'll be writing a check in traffic court.

Overeating can result from lack of concentration. Most folks here don't want to overeat. It can happen though, especially in the period when we are learning the way the sleeve talks to us. If brushing my hand can make me feel better I'll do it, but not in front of people who are looking for an excuse to have me committed.:D

It's not a matter of over-filling yourself...it's that uncomfortable full feeling that sneaks up on you, particularly when eating some things at a social event when you can't control your food choices as well (I never attend buffets anymore...that would be a WASTE of $$!)...I hate that uncomfortable full feeling anytime and try to avoid it!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
