I am 8 weeks out and eat 1,000 calories per day. Sometimes more, sometimes less. My RD recommends 1,000-1,200.

I am 5 weeks out and average around 600 calories per day. I just recently added an evening snack of Protein. I am getting 70-75 G of protein every day and eating very few carbs- no bread or crackers of any kind at this point. I eat cheese, refried Beans, ground chicken, cheese, yogurt, low fat sliced turkey/ham, tuna, baked fish, eggs- all protein/all the time:)

I'm 2 months out and average about 750-850 calories a day. Once in a while (usually when I'm not eating at home) I'll make it up to 1000 cal.

Yowza! This seems so low to me. When I was talking with my nutritionist, she told me she'd like to see me aiming at 1200 calories a day after I'm back onto solid foods.

My surgery is on April 22. I'm just curious now, was everyone told they will be in that 600-800 calorie range for good? Or do you go back up after you're at goal?

My NUT just said to be around 1000 cal as of my 6 week checkup. I just don't get that much in. It's not that I'm calorie counting either, cause I'm not. I just go for the Protein and let the calories fall where they may... which seems to be around 800 for me.

I am 16 months out. My calorie intake is between 1200-1500. I have 10 pounds to goal. My BMR is 1451. If I want to maintain my weight loss there is no way I can eat more. I think that your calorie count is a personal thing. Everyone has a different BMR. Some people can eat 1300 calories a year out and still lose and some people can't. You should have your surgeon measure your BMR then decide your calorie count.

Can the online bMR tests be accurate? Mine said 1592

No way

Thank you all for your replies. Some were helpful. I don't know if anyone has read my other posts but I have a real problem with eggs and chicken so I don't eat either of those. Thank you for the yogurt suggestions' date=' I've had a hard time finding low cal high Protein (I'm a very sucky shopper because I have three little kids with me every time I shop). I'm also always hungry and that is why I eat every two hours. If I don't I feel like I'm going to pass out. Hunger is worse now than before surgery so that's been a real struggle even when I have a lot of Protein. Anyways, thank you for the suggestions and letting me know that 600-800 is doable. I appreciate some of your advice.[/quote']

I hate that I am more hungry than before surgery too! But it gets easier! I carry non perishable Snacks because when I get hungry it doesn't take too long to be super hungry and I eat too fast. Try keeping nuts or Jerky with you. I love turkey Jerky and if you want a real treat bacon jerky is good too! I don't use MFP, because I eat weird things and struggle knowing the calories! Like I bought some quinoa salad at the market and I will eat a few bits until I'm no longer hungry and put it back in the fridge, etc...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
