mrsmsp 3 Posted April 11, 2013 I'm 9 weeks post op. have lost only 26 lbs Been fine with Protein. Maybe not so good with Water and walking but I try. But isn't 26lbs in 9 weeks too little? I am beginning to feel disheartened about the surgery and that it's not working for me and due to that; I want to cheat all the time Anyone else feel this way? src8556 3 Posted April 11, 2013 I am 11 weeks out today and have lost 23.4 lbs. I think it depends on your starting weight and how much you have to lose. I started the journey at 238.5 and was 221.0 on the day of surgery. I have felt disappointed at times myself. My doctor says I am doing fine and just continue down the same path I am going. The weight will come off. I exercise 5 days a week, am getting 64 ounces of Water and about 60 grams of Protein. The only thing I am having a hard time with is getting the 900 calories a day in. I usually range between 600-800 a day.
jobyro 9 Posted April 11, 2013 It's so hard not to compare ourselves to others, but this is our own individual journey. I'm 7 weeks out today and down 26 pounds. The day of surgery I was 205. I tell myself this is way more than I could have lost on my own. It will come off, just keep following the plan!! 2 Afrodite82 and JerseyGirl68 reacted to this
Chris R 217 Posted April 11, 2013 Well, the rule of thumb is you need a 500 calorie per day deficit to lose 1 lb per week. So if you generally require let's say 2000 calories a day to maintain your weight, if you ate 750 calories a day you should lose an average of 2.5 lbs per week in the long run. 2 Shawn Morrison and Afrodite82 reacted to this
JerseyGirl68 1,172 Posted April 11, 2013 Just under 3 pounds a week, not too bad if you ask me! Just about 10% of your body weight. You are doing fine. I agree with the above posters, everyone is different and loses at different rates. There are tons of threads, one particular one comes to mind that was created by a very successful Vet, who also considered herself a slow loser, look some up - you are not alone in your thinking. Try not to compare your numbers with others, they are very subjective and could really mess with your mind. Ask yourself if you are doing everything you need to be doing . If the answer is yes, your are golden. If not, commit to getting in your Water and exercising more, it may be just what you need. You are doing well, keep at it! 3 ProudGrammy, Afrodite82 and Shawn Morrison reacted to this

What was your expectation for the amount of weight that you wanted to lose at this point? Twenty six pounds is a lot of weight in a short period of time. Were you expecting 50 or 60 in 9 weeks? Keep in mind that the surgery was on your stomach and not on your brain, so the desire to "cheat" isn't going away. It takes a lot of work to make WLS a success both physically and mentally. I totally understand that you want to get there as quickly as possible, I have the same rant myself, however it does take time. The surgery is only the first step in the process. You have a lot to work through in order for you to achieve your goal. Take a deep breath and stick to your plan, you will get there but it won't be tomorrow. 2 JerseyGirl68 and Afrodite82 reacted to this
