I have moderate sleep apnea and have C-Pap, borderline diabetes, severe back and foot pain, GERD, high cholesterol and high triglycerides. Can someone please tell me how and where I can get the sleeve performed in Philadelphia, PA or New Jersey. Im new to this forum
BigDaddyJoe 246 Posted April 11, 2013 I'm in New Jersey, and had a BMI of 36.9, and have sleep apnea, high blood pressure, and GERD. I think most surgeons will do it if your BMI is over 35, and you have at least 2 comorbities. It all depends if your insurance will cover it or not. 1 jadira30 reacted to this
kyllfalcon 768 Posted April 11, 2013 I was jut under 40 BMI, with a gazillion cormorbidities. My insurance does not cover any WLS, regardless of medical need or comorbidities, so I paid myself. My surgeon's criteria, with or without insurance, was BMI of at least 40, or BMI of 35 with cormorbidities.
sclark75149 6 Posted April 11, 2013 My BMI was not 40 either. I had high cholesterol, diabetes (moderate to low numbers), sleep apnea and that was enough to qualify under Blue Cross Blue Shield Texas. 1 jadira30 reacted to this

jadira30 5 Posted April 11, 2013 Has anyone with IBX Personal Choice PPO have there surgery covered as a stand alone procedure versus 2 step procedure?
cmartin15 3 Posted April 11, 2013 I had it done with a BMI of 37, HBP, hyperlipidemia. I think you will be able to get it done. I cant speak for everyone but i only 9 ponds from Goal at 5 months out. I had no complications other than heartburn. 1 jadira30 reacted to this
jadira30 5 Posted April 12, 2013 Hello all!! well I registered on this site yesterday and asked a couple of questions and got great feedback. Thank you all. Anyway, I went to see a bariatrician last night and he feels I have a great chance of being approved for my sleeve. This doctor actually performed the sleeve on my husband August of 2012. My husband was 477 lbs the day of surgery. Today my husband weighs 297 lbs. It hasnt even been a year!!! I am going to schedule my surgery for June but will be getting all my pre-op requirements completed prior to so that way I have all my ducks in order. I am soooooo excited.. This site really does give people confidence in going thru with the sleeve..I cant wait for my new life
