Congratulations on your surgery and success so far.

How much Protein do your shakes have?

I know you already realize that the yogurt is pretty high in calories, I was told non-fat greek was best. Less than 100 cal and 12 gr Protein. I had to experiment with different brands until I found one I liked (Oikos black cherry for me) Otherwise you sound like you're doing fine. I was on about 800 calories at that stage, but my NUT bumped it up to 1000. You are still taking in few enough for weight loss so stick to what your NUT told you to do and you should be fine.

You're doing great! Good luck !

Not sure how long post-op you are or your height but 1000 cals seems like a reasonable intake to me. If you have a NUT you could consult with them. I am at about 1200 cals a day and my Dr. and NUT are happy with that. My only comment regarding the shakes is I make mine with 1 cup skim milk a about 4 ice cubes and use a bullet blender. Then it's like a milk shake. That cuts about 90 cals from the shake.< /p>

I just bought that yogurt because it was coconut and the dairy guy said it was delicious. i usually do the greek yogurt ..fage is my favorite. one Protein drink is 41 grams of protein ,,and the other is 19..I have been having alot of trouble getting in the Water and protein so i am trying different ways. i strive for 45 g of protein and 6 glasses of water..i actually did it yesterday.. according to the nutritionist i saw for my approval she had said 78 grams of protein a day...theres no way i could possibly do that.. i am 3 weeks post op do you think i will be ok with the 45g of protein and the 48 oz of water for now???? and thanx in advance your advice really helps

I was having trouble with plain Water, I added Vitamin water Zero into my day and it was much easier for me to get in my 64oz and then some. Warm liquids (herbal tea or decaf) went down easier in the beginning also. The further out you get from surgery the easier it will be to get in your Protein and water. You are still healing and doing well! I would add some PB2 (peanut butter powder) to my shake mix to get in more protein.

You definitely want to get in as much of both as possible, at this stage more planning is required to try to meet your goals every day. Once more dense Proteins are introduced it should get easier with the protein. Do you have followups with the Nutritionist?

Getting in at least 64oz of water is hard, but so necessary. I've read posts from folks who got dehydrated, it did not sound like anything I wanted to happen.

You got this!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
