I'm about three and a half months out, and I have stopped losing weight...I only lost about 25 pounds on the sleeve so far. I am about to go CRAZY! Here's what's up:

I'm exercising like I should be....I feel good about that. I also have more energy!

I do admit I'm having trouble getting the Protein in. Everytime I drink a shake, I feel pukey. I do drink a lot of Water though.

I've been having a period nonstop since just after my surgery. That's three months. I'm so frustrated.

I have zits on my face! I look like a freakin teenager.

Is there anyone out there who can relate to this? I have a follow-up tomorrow with my nutritionist, and I can't wait to hear what she says. I'm almost at the point of regretting my surgery. I hear all these amazing success stories, but where's mine?

I fell your pain. Losing hair, do not feel any better, eat just a small amount and get sick. Can't reverse so must live with. Great way to spend my retirement. Needed to lose 100lbs. Lost 30 on my own. Only 20 post surgery. 3 months out. Miss food. Programs want you to buy their high cost food that tastes like s?:! Would not do again. Would go it on my own.

Are you having trouble with other Protein sources? My NUT wanted me off shakes once I was cleared for all foods.

I was told not to do shakes at all. I am learning that everyone has a different plan that their NUT gave them.

I like you have started breaking out like a teenager too! In fact I look worse than my 13 year old son. I was told (don't know how true this is because a friend told me not a doc) that fat holds lots of toxins and chemicals and as you loose weight these toxins are released causing the acne. I'm curious what your NUT says.

I also have not lost any weight in over a month( I was sleeved 6 months ago). I think I may have reached my weightloss limit. Although I would take the 50 pound weightloss over the ten that I just seemed to take off and put right back on before having the surgery.

Plain & simple, no more shakes. Get real meat in, eggs & cheese, yogurts too! Nuts are good as well.

I agree with Veronica and Jerseygirl, my dr doesn't want us getting Protein from shakes once we get thru the first few weeks. Better to get your Protein from real food. Yogurt has a ton of protein!

I'm in the same boat. I'm 2 months post and I've poly lost 28 lbs. I have been good with Protein but not so good with Water & 30 min walking. But that can't be the reason for such slow weight loss...can it? There are times I actually need to remind myself that I did the surgery. Someone please tell me the weight will go. I've been on the same weight since 3 weeks...grrrr

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
