5 weeks out and getting upset

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. So I'm 5 weeks post op and I had lost 38 lbs and now I haven't lost anything the past week. I try to stay in the diet and I'm barely able to eat much bc I get the sudden pains. I have started walking for 45 min bit haven't lost. How long does this last. I'm getting upset over it :(

Don't get discouraged the stalls happen to all of us. I am about 10 weeks out and I had one that started like two weeks ago. I didn't lose a single pound for two weeks and I was starting to get very upset, then this morning I stepped on the scale and had lost three more pounds!! Just keep up the great work you are already doing and it will start back up, you just have to work through it!!

10 pounds in four weeks (it was 14 pounds, but I gained after week 2 and have been stuck ever since).... So if this is a competition for who is the slowest... I win

This is just about the time that your body will go from loosing Water to converting more water out of your fat cells, etc. This is a transition. Your body will get back on track for loosing. Keep up the good work, and keep up the exercise.

You have lost an average of 7.6 pounds per week. Not sure I understand why you are upset?

Don't stress!! I didn't lose anything for almost 3 weeks at one point. I'm 15 weeks out now and am down 75lbs :) Sometimes for me indulging in something a little higher in calories has helped jumpstart me during a stall. Sounds like it would be the opposite, but I swear it has worked for myself and others I know!

Either way, it's definitely not a competition and everyone's bodies behave differently. I got out of my last stall by starting Insanity...talk about...INSANE!!! LOL

Good luck, keep up the good work!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
