So I'm 6 days post op and I'm on full liquid. I'm not eating a lot my main focus is staying hydrated. I learned the hard way that anesthesia plus morphine equals nausea city for me so that extended my hospital stay from over night to 4 days. I'm not hungry at all. Having all these different feelings in my new belly and not sure what they are but I'm sure non of then is hunger yet. Like I said main focus right now is hydration because I would hate to end up back in the hospital. Let me know where some of you were 6 days out and what you were doing

I didn't have any issues in the hospital, but at 6days out I was right about where you are. I am at 2.5 months now and I still rarely feel hungry..... If it wasn't for my work schedule and my family eating dinner I could easily forget to eat anything at all. Everything starts to get better once you are on the semisolid phase. Congrats on your surgery and good luck!!

I am 7 days out today, today was the first day I was able to get 64oz Water and 60 grams of Protein in. I too had a rough go after surgery. Apparently my stomach was adhered to my spleen and there was lots of scar tissue from when I attempted to have the lap band in 2005( this surgery was aborted due to a stomach perforation)

The sleeve surgery generally takes an hr or so, mine took 3 1/2 hrs.

I woke up after surgery with really bad dry heaving, same issue the following morning. I thought I was good to go home and sure enough it happened at home. I called my surgeon and he called in a Rx for Zofran.....ahhhh...what a huge difference!!!

Gas pain is gone. Going on short walks with my doggie and really working on Protein and Water. I too am having weird feelings in my belly....hunger or just wishing I could have something other than Soup, shakes, pudding? Who knows... I just keep repeating "mind over matter". LOL

Best wishes!!!!

At 6 days I was eating Jello, chicken broth, hot tea and Water. I was walking every few hours to keep away from blood clots. And I had my first emotional outburst of tears! First and only thank goodness! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
