Taking Prescription Medicine with the Band

Recommended Posts

I have read a few posts on this site concerning liquid Tylenol after surgery. Do you have trouble taking pills after surgery? Has everyone been able to take their prescriptions after surgery, or does the band cause problems with that? Does the band effect the medication getting into your system, or were you all able to take your meds as you did before. Thanks for any info.

Regansmom,

I'm the one posting about the problem. Just click on the underlined link in your first reply and you will see the post regarding this. I'm still working on this problem and have contacted my pharmacy team and was told there are no chewable or liquid meds that I'm taking. I'm still working on this problem and have decided to try to cut and swallow small pieces and to put capsules in liquid yogurt. I will be talking to my surgeon tomorrow and my primary care physician shortly about this. Take Care.

I've never had any problems taking medication after the band and I do take meds every day. But I've never really been super-tight either.

Just a quick comment, I've found that working with my Dr. on meds she can usually find a liquid or a chewable form of the meds. For instance, right now I'm on antibiotics and histamine (sp?) for a sinus infection. After searching through meds my Doctor found a liquid ZPack and a disolve under the tongue histamine.

I bought a pill crusher and a pill cutter but I haven't had to use either one. I have had no problems at all taking my prescription pain medicine, muscle relaxers are migrane pills. Good luck.

I take very small m&m size pills...I can swallow them normally with no problems.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
