eating too much? starting to get obsessive...

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!

I am 20 years old

I was sleeved 12/17/2012

Heaviest weight 404.1

Day of Surgery 366.6

Today 293.8

I have had some minor complications, Was admitted to the hospital for 5 days, 2 weeks post op with severe gastric reflux, pancreatitis, and dehydration.

I also had to have an emergency gallbladder removal in the begining of February.

All that aside i have been feeling great. Exercising daily has become a part of my routine.

My main concern is that i am now able to eat too much at one time.

For dinner last night i was able to eat about 3/4 of a baked chicken breast and felt "full" but felt like i could continue to eat another bite if i wanted to.

My daily calorie intake is generally 500-800 cals.

I dont know if its because i am 4 months post op that my stomach is no longer swollen and that this is a normal amount to be able to eat in one sitting, but it is scaring me. My BIGGEST fear is gaining weight.

I have been weighing myself 2-3 times a day and when i gain a pound it really upsets me.( i know this is so wrong but i am getting addicted to the scale)

I guess im just looking to find out if everything im going through is normal?

How much is everyone able to eat?

don't focus on the volume of food you eat- focus on the content- that's what matters. To me I was sleeved so I could lose weight, keep it off and be healthy, I didn't get a sleeve so I could only eat a half a cup of food at once. As long as you keep your Protein count where it is supposed to be, get your fluids and Vitamins in, you are losing weight, feel good and are happy-- who cares if you can eat 3/4 of a chicken breast! Your calories per day are actually pretty low I wouldn't be concerned that you are eating too much at all. Have you thought about getting rid of your scale and only weighing at MD appointments? I don't have a scale. I weigh 3 times a week on the scale at work (I am a RN) it helps!! Oh, btw I'm 20+ months post op and eat 1800-2000 cals a day to maintain. I have been at my goal for more than a year. :)

Wow! You are doing great! You've already lost over 100 lbs. I agree with the above comments. You're still losing weight so I wouldn't worry about it. My nutritionist told me to weigh myself once a week rather than daily. It's hard to do, but I'm trying it.

I agree with the other posters, you don't seem to be doing anything you're not supposed to be. I'm also 4 months out and I can ingest about 4 oz. at a time. You are doing great!! You will drive yourself nuts if you weigh all the time.

Congratulations!

Calories are too low. I also am 4 months out and eat 1000 cal day. Nutritionalist wants me to up ton1200 . I don't do this on a daily basis but sometimes I eat 1400-1600 so I guess it all balances out. I am still losing 1-2 lbs a week. I do not exercise because of pain. I am also older, 66.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
