Shesha 1 Posted December 4, 2006 To those that are already banded: I have a one year old daughter and a 7 lb Maltese (dog) that are always climbing on me. Sometimes, they can be quite brutal =o) Is it possible they could damage the port somehow, or is it placed deep enough inside you not to worry??? On that same line... are your activities restricted in anyway?? I would like to play league volleyball again after I get banded and lose a few pounds. Will I be able to do that?? (diving for ball, possible contact with other players) Thanks!!
beachgirl 2 Posted December 4, 2006 I have 2 mini daschunds and a one year old granddaugher and I've not noticed anything like that. I ride 4wheelers, do situps, and so far no problems. I have heard of people being in bad car accidents and one lady had some problems with the impact but that's all I've heard. I think you'll be fine.
Carlene 12 Posted December 4, 2006 I have a 6 lb Shih Tzu who thinks she is my Siamese twin. And I have young grandchildren. And up until a month ago, I had an 80 pound Lab who didn't know she wasn't a lap dog. None of them managed to do any injury to my port.
ginger 0 Posted December 4, 2006 I have a pomeranian who can literally FLY from one piece of furniture to another and almost always lands on my port!! No problems to date
beversman 0 Posted December 4, 2006 I have a pomeranian as well!! And yes, I think they can fly when it mean landing anywhere on your lap... ha (they are too cute) I'm not banded yet, but all the other posts ive seen on this have the same consensus. You can't do much (once you healed) to hurt your port. :-)

piercedqt78 658 Posted December 5, 2006 I have done kick boxing since being banded, it hurts a bit more to be kicked in the port area, but my port is fine. My daughter had just turned 4 when I got my band and I had 2 huge lap cats, no problems there. Just be careful during the initial healing phase with lifting the little one, I know I had some lifting restrictions, but since my daughter was older that wasn't a big deal. ~Mandy
Mariah 0 Posted December 5, 2006 I have a pomeranian as well!! And yes, I think they can fly when it mean landing anywhere on your lap.. I used to raise Pomeranians and still have a lot of them. Two in particular use me for a trampoline to get to the back of the couch. If pets could hurt the port I would be long gone! My large dogs are all in Doggy Heaven now, but I recall my Norwegian Elkhound getting her tooth caught in my earring, I still have the scar. She and her sister both lived past 16. Shesha 1 Posted December 6, 2006 If the port can survive kickboxing and karate, I think I will be ok. Thank you all for your input!
