:help: Hey Everyone!!

I am a week post and on Monday I am moving off of mushies. Right now I still get hungry. It is like I can still eat a good amount but i just have to eat it slow. But the only thing I am supposed to be on a diet, where i eat about 1/2 cup servings. And that is not enough. I was wondering if this was normal, and will it be like this until i am filled???

Hi NewStart, I think I was about 3 weeks in before I began to feel hungry at all. It didn't last long for me, I kept to the small amounts, and I guess I adapted. Good luck, hang in there until your fill.

I am still hungry (after 3 fills) I guess i havent found my 'sweet' spot yet... but it is a bit better once you have been filled.

All the best

What you are feeling is absolutely normal. The time immediately following your surgery until you start getting fills is for healing, not dieting. Most people find that once the initial swelling goes down from the surgery, they are able to eat close to what they were doing prior to the surgery. I actually gained weight prior to getting my first fill, as many others have reported as well. However, once you start getting fills and reach proper restriction, you will definitely feel the difference and the weight will start coming off. Just remember, it takes some people 2-3 fills before they reach proper restriction, so you have to patient. But, it will happen and when it does, you will be thrilled with the results.

Ditto to Susan. If you lose any weight at all prior to your first fill, it is just a bonus. Right now you need to focus on your stomach healing. I was fortunate that I lost weight during the recovery period but there are a lot of people that don't and it's completely normal. Hang in there and you'll get the sweet spot soon enough!

I was hungry about a week after the operation. I had my first fill 3 days ago and for the first time in my life I am not hungry. Yesterday I was doing some work on my computer and eating Breakfast (half a can of soup) at the same time and kept forgetting that I was eating between mouthfulls. Hang in there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
