How are you cleaning your drain incision? I am 9 days out.

Thanks!

same.. mine has steristrips and clear plastic over them.. granted they only lasted 5 days, but just normal showering (not too long) should be fine.

I was instructed not to put any ointment or cleaning. Only showering. for 6 weeks.

Mind were dermabond (glued) I'm 14 days out and the glue is starting to flake off. My drain hole sealed up the next day I think.

I sprayed it with antiseptic spray and put a little neosporin on it daily. Had to keep it covered in the shower for the first 10days

Thanks for all of the responses. I wish mine were dermabonded! I've just been using antibacterial soap and Water.< /p>

I am cleaning mine with antibacterial soap... all of my steri-strips are off and my drain site is stlll very open. I have had to do wet to dry dressing on it for tissue that looked less than healthy. It has to heal from the inside out... so I am tending to it three times a day. It is getting smaller VEEEERY sowly! I can't believe how awesome all of my other incisions look though!

I don't have a drain incision but I am curious about your other incisions. I had my surgery Wed so I'm day 3. My stomach is still very swollen and my incisions are ugly. Did u guys feel the same? Are they healing nicely?

It takes several days for the bloating and swelling to go down... I am day 12 and I am still a little bloated. My other incisions look amazing. I am a revision from the LapBand and the incisions with this surgery are almost invisible. The only one that is going to be visible is the drain site for me.

What is ugly about your incisions? Sometimes there is a collection of bloody drainage under the tapes and it apears they look bad... but once the tapes fall off... they look fine.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
