I fly out April 16 to Tijuana.

Recommended Posts

I fly out April 16 to Tijuana. That is the day before my 27 birthday. I had a stroke last year in august and decided it was time to live. I want children with my new husband and I want to live long enouhh to see my stepson graduate. I am scared. I am going alone because we can't afford for my husband to go. I am technically going with a group but I don't know anyone. My Dr is Dr. jaime Ponce de leon at the INT hospital. I don't know much about him. I did so much research but I still feel I'm lacking. My doctors here in Houston are all for it but there are a lot of negative feelings from family about mexico. I can't afford it here and I have to do something. Wish me luck!

Luck! I've read great things about your doc. And I'm headed to Tijuana a few days after you.

I'm kind of panicking. I was reading on here that my coordinator Laurie Wolf may not have been a wise choice. She doesn't answer my emails and her phone just went to voicemail when I called 5 minutes ago. I paid her deposit but I don't know how to check and see if I'm even scheduled.

I researched Dr. Ponce and I believe you will be in great hands...All of his patients love him and are doing well...he's a great surgeon...

I understand your fears as I am leaving out on Thursday 4/11 to have surgery with Dr. Garcia. I am nervous, excited and little scared all in one

BUT God's got me so I'm ready to do this!!!

No it isn't. I got ahold of another coordinator and she at least verified that my procedure is booked but I don't know about transportation or lodging

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
